Encouraged to be creative by my mother, with classes in drawing, sculpting, and continually giving me those blow-mold packs with water color paint, paper, brush, and scissors, all nestled in neatly at the start. Becoming an artist can be a choice, but even with the challenges, I don’t feel I could make a different one.

Printmaking became my focus in 1998, and was an excellent way to make a living, but as time passes, imagery changes, materials change, not everything that was once available remains that way. I tell people now that I make stuff. Being an artist is for others to decide, what I surely am is an artisan with elaborate knowledge of Intaglio etching, metal work, sewing, painting, collage, cooking. You get the idea.

Beginning a new venture into ceramics is a risk, I make things first and see if people buy them, but it could become anything I’m able to shape it into.
